*Drab to Fab* - How to Bling Out Your Brushes!

Hey Beauty Babes!

A couple weeks ago I bought some new brushes that were really fun and bright. They were so me! I love anything that is bright and fun! When I put them in my brush holder, I noticed my plain white brushes looked so blah next to my new ones. Lol. I wanted to do something to add some color and fun to them. So, I went inside my craft bin and dug around until I found some pretty cool stuff to bling them out!

I started with my $1 ELF face brush. The handle is pretty thick compared to most brushes, so this took a little longer than I expected. It was still super easy and the end result is definitely worth it!

Here is my ELF face brush blinged out with light blue and champagne mini rhinestones.

I showed a bunch of people my new and improved brushes and they all loved them. I got great feedback and some people even wanted me to do a tutorial on my blog. Even though it is so simple, I figured I would still do a step-by-step post on how to get super cute brushes!

First, gather your supplies. You only need a few things, most you probably have laying around your house.

Here is everything you will need to get super fun, sparkly brushes!

Supplies:
- Makeup brush
- Super glue
- Tweezers
- Rhinestones

You can use as many or as few rhinestone colors as you would like. I chose to use two different colors, light blue and champagne. After gathering your supplies, put a small layer of glue around the brush. Take your tweezers and add your rhinestones one by one in what ever pattern you choose.

Here is the first row of light blue rhinestones glued to the eyeshadow brush.

I decided to do one row of all light blue and then the next row I added all champagne. I went back and forth between the two colors. After I finished gluing down the first row of rhinestones, I repeated the same step, by adding a layer of super glue around the brush. Then I picked up the champagne rhinestones with my tweezers and added them one by one around the brush.

Make sure you just add a small amount of glue each time, because the super glue does dry quick.

Keep going back and forth between the two colors (or whatever pattern you decide on) until you completely cover your brush with rhinestones. It's pretty simple and its a easy way to jazz up your boring brushes! You can get real creative and add multiple different colors and different designs. Your brushes will be totally unique and no one will ever have the same brushes as you!

Isn't my finished blinged out ELF eyeshadow brush cute! It went from drab to fab in just a short amount of time!

Collectively, it took about an hour to complete. The face brush took a bit longer because it is a lot bigger. I did this a little over a week ago, and haven't had any rhinestones fall off. Just make sure you keep a few extra rhinestones on hand in case one does pop off you can just glue it back on! This would be a great DIY gift to give to friends and it is just a fun way to dress up your own collection!

Now go grab your brushes and some glue and rhinestones and get to blingging! Let me know if you blinged your brushes. I would love to see some pictures!

Stay forever beautiful!
Love and hugs,
Keri

*First Impression* - theBalm's Mary-Lou Manizer

Hey Beauty Babes!

I was out with my sister today running some errands and got an email on my phone from UPS saying that theBalm's Mary-Lou Manizer that I ordered from Hautelook had been delivered! It was supposed to arrive tomorrow, but it came a day early! I wasn't home so they left it out in front of my door, which I HATE! Anyways, I am super excited because I am starting to slowly build up my high end cosmetic collection and ordering from Hautelook is a great way to do so without breaking bank!

This is going to be a quick first impressions post! theBalm's Mary-Lou Manizer is extremely popular in the world-of-makeup. If you ask people to recommend a good highlighter, they will point you to Mary-Lou! That is how I ended up ordering it, and so far, I am glad I did! Here are a few pics of Miss Mary-Lou Manizer!

theBalms Mary-Lou Manizer would look great on most skin tones!

This compact contains a ton of product! It is huge! I know people say that certain makeup lasts them 'forever', but I am pretty sure this will literally last me FOREVER! This highlighter is definitely very noticeable, so you only need a little bit to get the job done. Mary-Lou is a very pretty shimmery-champagne color with gold undertones. It is very soft and when I swatched it on my hand, it blended with ease.

The packaging is ADORABLE! Very vintage!

This highlighter does not contain actual glitters. It is very, very shimmery, so a little bit of product goes a real long way. If you are not careful when applying, I am sure it would be very easy to over do it with this product. So make sure you use a light hand when applying, unless you are going for a heavy, shimmery look. This product can be applied all over your face, you do not have to use it just on your cheeks. To get that glowy, shimmery look, try applying it to your lips and eyes.

This compact contains .30 oz of product and retails for $24. I was lucky enough to find this on Hautelook and only paid $12!

I only rubbed my finger over the highlight twice and got a very heavy swatch! As you can see this swatch is not blended. A light hand is need when applying this product!

Since I just got this yesterday, I've only played with it a little bit. I am sure I will be getting A LOT of use out of this, as I just adore highlighters! I can already tell, this will be my 'go to' product when I am looking to add a bit of shimmer to my look!

I know lots of you guys took advantage of this being on Hautelook. If you ordered it, did you receive it yet? What is your first impressions of Mary-Lou!?

Stay forever beautiful!
Love and hugs,
Keri

*March MyGlam* - First Impression and Thoughts!

Hey Beauty Babes!

MyGlam Bag came in the mail today. It has actually been sitting at the Providence post office since early Saturday morning. Normally, when I am expecting a package, I can't wait for it to be delivered. Sadly, I didn't feel that way with this months MyGlam Bag. After figuring out the sneak peeks and seeing other people's reveal videos, I honestly didn't care if my bag sat at the post office forever. The contents inside last month's bag were truly disappointing, so I was hoping this months would be better. Unfortunately, I honestly think, March's Glam Bag was worse. Ugh! It is so disappointing, especially when you look forward to receiving it all month long. If you go to the MyGlam Facebook page, all of us Glammies are kindly telling the MyGlam Gurus that we would like more makeup to be included in the bags. Sadly, this month's bag had not one makeup product. Initially, I said I would give MyGlam a three month trial period. With this being my second month, April's bag will be the 'make it or break it' bag. So, without further adieu, let's check out the products that were included in March's bag!

March 2012 MyGlam Bag!

MyGlam says that each month Glammies will receive 4-5 deluxe size or full size samples. Obviously, this month, the MyGlam Gurus did not hold true to their word as we only received 2 deluxe size products. The other items included are just single-use samples.

MyGlam Exclusive Classic Crease Brush and Case.

March's bag was delivered in the same bright pink bubble envelope that February's bag was sent in. After opening it, the first thing I noticed was a hot, bubblegum pink case. I opened it up and inside was a cute, pink blending brush that is adorned with the MyGlam logo. The brush looks decent, nothing extraordinary, but it seems like it will get the job done. It is definitely not the softest brush. This brush was supposedly hand chosen by Michelle Phan during her recent trip to Hong Kong. There have been several rumors floating around Facebook World claiming that we will be receiving more brushes in the upcoming months that we can use to fill up our new brush case.

Keracolor comes in four different colors. The Natural Keracolor can be used for all hair types.

The next item that was in my bag was Keracolor. Keracolor is a leave-in hair treatment that protects, strengthens, hydrates and enhances all hair types. At first glance, this looks like a single use product sample. According to the directions, you are supposed to get 2-4 uses out of this packet. I will get four uses out of this sample because my hair is super thin, but people with long, thick hair will be lucky to get two uses out of this packet. I don't think this really qualifies as a deluxe size sample and according to MyGlam, all the products we receive are supposed to be at least deluxe size.

This month we received a 'DermStore Care Package' which includes Pur-lisse Pur-Protect SPF 30 Essential Daily Moisturizer, Murad Eye Lift Perfector and a $25 gift card to DermStore*.

As soon as I saw this 'care package' I literally laughed out loud. Seriously, this is a care package?! MyGlam and DermStore really doesn't care about us all that much if they only included two single use samples and a 'gift card' that has restrictions in our care package. Again, these two samples are NOT deluxe size. Actually, I would be lucky if I even got one full use out of these packets. How can I tell if I like a product if I can't even try it properly?! It is SO annoying, especially when we are told that we will be receiving certain size products and we do not get them . It is false advertising and misrepresentation on MyGlam's part. The 'gift card' to Dermstore is very similar to the gift card that was included in February's bag for NuMe. The DermStore gift card is for $25, BUT you have to spend a minimum of $50 and certain restrictions apply. Technically. this isn't a gift card, it is more like a coupon. I HATE how MyGlam keeps advertising these certificates as gift cards, when they are clearly discounts. When I think of a gift card, I expect to be able to use it without having restrictions on what to buy or without having to make a minimum purchase and having to put my own money towards it.

This was, by far, the best product I received inside this month's bag. A full size Pur-lisse Pur-lip Comfort retails for $16.

The last item that was inside my bag was a full size Pur-lisse Pur-lip Comfort. Not everyone received this; this was one of the 'OR' items. The other 'OR' items were Murad's Absolute Bronzing Boost SPF 15 and 3Lab Perfect Cleansing Foam. Out of the three products I could have gotten, I am happy that I got the lip conditioner. My lips are always chapped and dry, so this is a perfect beauty product for me to try. So far I have only tried it once, but it does feel really nice on my lips and seems to do a good job at hydrating them. I plan to do a full review after I use it for a while.

There was also a little card that was included inside this months bag. It had a little note written by Michelle that said 'Say goodbye to winter's woes with our march Glam Bag! It's filled to the brim with our favorite products to help repair and restore your skin and hair just in time for a bright and dewy spring'. Wow. This month's bag was barely filled at all, let alone filled to the brim! I honestly feel a little bad for the company because LOTS of people have already canceled their subscription after seeing this month's bag. If they keep going in this direction and don't take into consideration our feedback, I don't think this company will be successful which would be a shame because I think it does have a lot of potential.

Like I said, I will give MyGlam three months to prove themselves. If after the third month I am not happy with my bag, I will gladly cancel and either take my money to Sephora and purchase actual makeup or checkout what Birchbox has to offer.

What did you think about this month's Glam Bag!? What 'OR' product did you end up receiving!? Are you giving MyGlam another chance or did you cancel your subscription!?

Stay forever beautiful!

Keri

*Mini Haul!* - Urban Decay and Sonia Kashuk! So Excited!

Hey Beauty Babes!!

This has NOT been a good week for me. I started not feeling well last Saturday. It all started with a bad cold and today, I still feel like blah! My cold/flu/virus/whatever is working its way down and it's now in my stomach. I've been stuck in the house literally ALL week. I had to go to Walmart and Target today to do some shopping, or poor Lucky was going to starve (he has been eating hot dogs all week! Lol!) When I was in Target, I checked out the brushes quickly and picked up a WICKED CUTE Sonia Kashuk set. I also got my Urban Decay package today! This week they had their semi-annual Friends and Family Sale and I finally picked up a couple things that I've been wanting. So, keep reading to see what I got! :)

This brush set is SO me! The colors are bright and fun and from first touch, they are real soft!

I was looking through the brushes that Sonia Kashuk had at Target and immediately these caught my eye! They are adorbs!! I love the colors and these are exactly the brushes that I have been needing. The price was right too! The entire set was only $14.99!! I've never tried Sonia Kashuk brushes before, but I have heard that they're great quality brushes. This set comes with five brushes: an angled crease brush (natural), multipurpose blending brush (natural), powder/blusher brush (natural), definition smudge brush (natural) and a synthetic concealer/foundation brush (synthetic). I haven't tried these out yet, but after I use them for a couple weeks, I will definitely do an updated post as to how they perform!

I ordered from Urban Decay on Wednesday afternoon, in the middle of their Friends and Family Sale. During checkout there was a little message that popped up, saying that shipping would be delayed a few days due to an overwhelming response to the sale. I was not expecting to receive my package til the beginning of next week. But, to my surprise, I got the confirmation email yesterday and the package was in my mailbox this morning! Talk about amazing costumer service and shipping!! My package came from California and I am in Rhode Island, it took just three days to get here! AH-MAY-ZING!

The highly-coveted Urban Decay Naked Palette! I may be a little late, but I FINALLY got one! :)

Now, we all know what the Naked Palette looks like, so I am NOT going to bore you with swatches, reviews, yadda yadda. I am super excited to FINALLY get my hands on this though! I have been wanting it for so long and never got it because I thought $48 (they now upped the price to $50!) was CRAZY for eyeshadow. Since, it was 20% off this past week, I said, 'why not!?', and bought it and I am happy I did! :)

This palette looks awesome! It contains six colors, one liner and a mini primer potion!

I also picked up Urban Decay's The Fun Palette. This was on sale for $16 (originally $36), plus it had an additional 20% because of the sale. The palette ended up coming out to a price that I just couldn't resist. If you are more of a neutral gal, this palette probably isn't for you. Since, I love bright colors, this is PERFECT for me! I can't wait to get my hands on Woodstock (pink), Psychedelic Sister (Purple) and Flipside (tealish-aqua)! It also came with a mini primer potion and a 24/7 pencil in Oil Slick which is black with glitters!

I'm so excited to start playing with everything I got! You know that as soon as I start to feel better, I will be posting looks that I came up with using The Naked Palette and The Fun Palette! Ugh, just wish I felt better so I could play with them today! There is nothing worse that having new product and not feeling well enough to use it! So annoying! :-P

If I paid full price for everything my total WOULD have been $100.99! But, because I'm an awesome sale shopper, I only paid $66.99! I saved a total of $34!

Did you guys pick up anything from the Urban Decay Friends and Family Sale? If you did, let me know whatcha got!!

Stay forever beautiful!
Love and hugs,
Keri

*Sneak Peek #3* - MyGlam Bag March 2012

Hey Beauty Babes!

This is just going to be a super quick post!

MyGlam, just now, released another sneak peek.

Photo borrowed from the MyGlam Facebook page
Obvi it looks like a brush of some sorts, but what kind!?

Ok, I think we all know that this is some sort of makeup brush. But, the question is, what kind of brush and will we be receiving a set of brushes or a single brush!?

I really don't know how I feel about this. I am in the market for new brushes, but I thought MyGlam was a subscription company that was supposed to send out samples of higher end beauty products?! Well, this isn't high end, this is self promoting. It kind of annoys me a little. Is this just an inexpensive way for MyGlam to throw another product in our bag?

What do you all think of this latest sneak peek?! Would you be happy to receive a MyGlam brush?!

Stay forever beautiful!
Love and hugs,
Keri

*Sneak Peek #2* - MyGlam Bag March 2012

Hey Beauty Babes!

In just a few short days, Glammies should start to receive their tracking numbers for their Glam Bags via email! The anticipation is killing me! I'm excited, but don't want to get my hopes too high since lasts month's bag was a complete and utter fail. But after seeing the sneak peeks for this month's bag, I must say, I am looking forward to getting MyGlam Bag! From the looks of it, I think it will be much better than lasts month.

MyGlam has been releasing sneak peek photos since last week. We already know that we could potentially be receiving a Pur-lisse or a 3Lab product. Yesterday, we got to see what the actual bag would look like. I must say, it is actually quite cute! It is very reminiscent of Spring (click HERE to see the other possible products and March's bag).

Today, MyGlam released another photo. At first, I thought this was nail polish! Lol! But after doing some digging, I've come to the conclusion that this is a hair product, known as Keracolor.

Photo borrowed from the MyGlam Facebook page
Here is the sneak peek picture that MyGlam released earlier today!

Keracolor offers four different types of leave-in treatments. They offer one for red, blonde and brunette hair, as well as a natural one that can be used on all hair types, no matter the color. After digging around and comparing colors and whatnot, I believe that MyGlam will be sending out the Natural one, which makes sense, since we all have different colored hair.

Here is a photo off of the Keracolor website. The color of the sample packet looks identical to the color in the MyGlam picture!

Now, if you aren't familiar with Keracolor, it is a leave-in treatment that can be used daily to help maintain color-treated hair and helps to avoid fast fading color. It enhances vibrancy using C.E.T Complex. It will leave hair feeling silky, soft, hydrated and frizz-free. If used daily it claims to 'bring out shine and accentuate existing highlights'. Each sample packet contains 3-4 applications and the samples retail for $9.99.

**If you would like an additional FREE sample of Kera color, please check out their Facebook page, HERE. They are giving out a free sample to the first 500 likes in your choice of color!

Are you excited to try Keracolor?! What are you thoughts so far about the products that will be inside of this month's Glam Bag!?

Stay forever beautiful,
Love and hugs,
Keri

*Sneak Peek #1* - MyGlam Bag March 2012

**EDIT: This post was edited on 3.5.2012 to include a sneak peek picture of the actual bag that all of our products will be coming in.

Hey Beauty Babes!

In about a week, MyGlam will start to mail out this months Glam Bags. After being disappointed in last months bag, I don't really have high hopes for this months items. On Friday, MyGlam released their first 'sneak peek' photo, containing some of the contents that will be in this months bag. The photo contained three items and was a bit blurry. The caption above the photo read, 'Here's the first sneak peek for the March Glam Bag! Each bag will have one of these brands to add to your beauty boodle...'. From the photo's description, I don't think we will be getting all three of these items. I think it will be something like January's bag was; where you either got theBalm's nail polish or eyeshadow. It will probably be randomized and you will receive one of the products featured in the picture.

Photo borrowed from the MyGlam Facebook page
Which product out of the three would you like to receive in your Glam Bag?!

Since the photo was blurred, it made it a little difficult to figure out what exactly these products are. With the help of other Glammies, I did some research on MyGlam's Facebook and Twitter page and came up with a few guesses.

Pur-lisse Lip Comfort looks like it is the product on the right!

These were lots of guess as to what this product actually was. After doing some research, and comparing products to the blurry picture, my best guess is that the product on the right is something from Pur-lisse. The box looks a lot like the Pur-lisse Lip Comfort which is basically a lip butter/balm. It is petroleum-free and contains Mango Butter, Shea Butter, Rice Bran Oil, Jojoba Oil and Vitamin E. Basically, it has lots of really good things for your lips and will leave them feeling nourished, soft and hydrated. A full size contains 0.5 oz and retails for $22.

Could the product in the middle be 3Lab's Perfect Cleansing Scrub!? I think so! :)

The item in the middle looks exactly like 3Lab's Perfect Cleansing Scrub. Now, I am not familiar with 3Lab products, so I had to take to the Net to do some research. Their Perfect Cleansing Scrub is, 'A daily scrub that cleans deep below the skins surface, yet is gentle enough to use every day for the most sensitive skin types.'. It contains Jojoba beads (do I see a theme here!?) that remove dead skin from your body. This scrub is gentle enough to be used every day and can replace your daily cleanser. A full size bottle contains 3.4 oz and sells for $60.

I am pretty positive that these beauty products are what is in the above picture. There is one more product featured in the picture, but I have no idea what it could be. Do you have any idea what the item on the far left, in the black box is?! If you do please, let me know in a comment below!

Photo borrowed from the MyGlam Facebook page
Here is a picture of what March's bag will look like. I think is is very appropriate for spring! Wicked cute! :)

After reading comments from fellow Glammies, this picture has gotten mixed reviews. I would say that more than half of the people who commented on the photo are not happy with the contents that were shown in the picture. Most Glammies want more makeup and less skin care products, and I have to say that I fully agree! One skin care product a month is fine. MyGlam we want more actual makeup!!

What do you think about the beauty products in this sneak peek photo!? Are you familiar with the brands!? Are you excited to try them!? If there are any other sneak peek photos released, I will do another post with my thoughts.

Stay forever beautiful!
Love and hugs,
Keri

*Face of the Day* - March 2, 2012

Hey Beauty Babes!

Today, I had to be out of the house super early to babysit my nephew. I took my makeup with me and did it while he was asleep :-P I am going out later this afternoon, so I wanted to do something to perk up my look, but I didn't want a full face of makeup since I am babysitting all day.

This is what I came up with!

Even though the eyes have a bit of color on them, I still think it is a very wearable look. It is definitely noticeable, but not super, in-you-face bold.

Let me know whatcha think!

Stay forever beautiful!
Love and hugs,
Keri

February 2012 Favorites!

Hey Beauty Babes!

Since starting a blog, I have wanted to do a 'favorites' post but have never gotten around to it. This month, I made it a point to pay close attention to what beauty products I reach for most and which products I am truly enjoying. I have used all of the products listed below countless times and have nothing but great things to say about each of them.

Keri's February 2012 favorites! :)

Here, is my first monthly favorites post! I hope you all enjoy it!

I bought the Urban Decay Book of Shadows IV from HauteLook in the beginning of February!

At the beginning of the month, HauteLook had Urban Decay featured on their site. They had several really great deals, one being the Book of Shadows IV. When it first was released it was originally $64, which is quite steep! I was not going to shell out that kind of money for makeup. But when I saw that HauteLook had it on sale for just $29, I just had to get it! I received this about two weeks ago, and have used it almost daily since. I love everything about it. If you are familiar with Urban Decay's eyeshadows, you know they are amazing! The 24/7 Liquid Liner in Perversion is great too! It does not budge and stays on until you decide to take it off. I am glad I purchased this and know I will get lots of use out of it!

Gravity is an awesome medium purple that has a frosted, shimmery finish.

Sin is a pinky-champagne color that is very shimmery.

Gravity and Sin are two colors out of the Urban Decay Book of Shadows IV that I really do enjoy! Gravity is a medium purple color that is very frosted. It can be applied sheer or built up to be quite intense. I love pairing Gravity with Sin. Sin is an awesome 'everyday' color. It is a champagne color that has pinkish undertones. It is a very shimmery color. It looks beautiful paired with several different colors or worn alone. I usually do a 'sandwich' smokey eye, with Gravity on the inner and outter corner and Sin in the middle. It is real simple to do and looks great!

Revlon Photoready 3D Volume Mascara, ELF Contour Brush and Dawn Eyes Cosmetics Very Hot Pink are other eye products that I really enjoyed using in February!

Besides the Urban Decay Book of Shadows IV, I have been enjoying a few other eye products. I picked up the Revlon Photoready 3D Volume mascara on a whim about a month ago during a trip to Walmart. I had heard pretty good things about it and decided to try it and I am SO glad I did! I really makes my eyes look like I have false lashes on. It is super easy to apply and doesn't clump! I have also been in the market for new brushes and went to Target to check out the ELF brushes because they are super cheap and good in quality. The ELF Contour Brush works great to get the 'outter V' detail and works great in the crease. It was only $3 and totally worth it! Lastly, a few weeks back, I checked out a small indie company called Dawn Eyes Cosmetics and ordered a bunch of samples of their pigments. I am really loving the bright pink pigment, appropriately named, Very Hot Pink. It is extremely vibrant and blends effortlessly. I am excited to check out more from her company!

Clinique's Blush in Breathless Berry and ELF's Shimmering Facial Whip in Spotlight are two face products that I used almost daily in February!

I love highlights! I think having a little shimmer on the cheek, nose and cupid's bow looks amazing. It gives people a youthful and fresh look. Of course, I have been wanting to check out all the higher end highlighting products, but I just couldn't see paying so much for so little product. I was looking around and saw that ELF had some really good highlighters. During a Target trip, I decided to check out their Shimmering Facial Whips and I am so glad I did! This highlight works perfectly and it was only $1! It stays put all day long and gives me that dewy glow that I was looking for. About a month ago, a friend sent me a bunch of makeup to help build my collection back up (it was stolen while I was working at Disney World!). One of the products in the box o' makeup was Clinique's Blush in Breathless Berry. OMG! This blush is the prettiest color ever! I use this color all the time. It is a nice dusty rose color with a hint of shimmer and sparkle. I am really impressed and think I am going to be trying more blushes from Clinique in the future!

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Sponge Cake, Revlon's Colorburst Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie and Hard Candy's Glossaholic Lip Gloss in Tipsy are all lip products that I loved in February!

Revlon's Colorburst Lip Butters have gotten a cult following. They are amazing. The texture, color and shine provides a great everyday wash of color for the lips. I have quite a few of these little babies, and love them all. But my favorite, by far, is Berry Smoothie. I reach for it at least 4 times a week. I love the color and shine it gives. If you use it lightly the color is very sheer, but if you build it up, the color is intense. My most favorite lip gloss are the NYX's Mega Shine Lip Glosses. The texture is great and it is not too sticky. They have a wide color range and smell amazing. My favorite color is Sponge Cake. It looks great on top of any nude lipstick. I reach for this several times a week. Lastly, I got sent some samples from Hard Candy a few weeks back. One of the products in the box was a Glossaholic Lip Gloss in Tipsy. This container is HUGE and the gloss smells great. It gives a really great shine and sparkle to any lipstick. I definitely recommend checking this gloss out!

That's it! I am really excited that I finally did a 'favorites' post and I look forward to doing them each month.

Did I list any products that you currently use on a regular basis? Are you interested in checking out any of the items that I talked about!? If so, let me know which ones you are thinking of buying!

Stay forever beautiful,
Love and hugs,
Keri
